Ujung Kulon National Park : The Last Sanctuary of The Javan Rhinos
Amazed or Admire Ujungkulon is a cooperative established by village communities Jaya Park. This village is one of the villages located in the vicinity of Ujung Kulon National Park.
Amazed Cooperative was established officially on December 2, 1999 by Legal No.547/BH/KDK/10.2/XII/1999.
This organization was designed by and for rural communities Taman Jaya. By forming this cooperative organization, Taman Jaya community and neighboring areas in the buffer zone Ujung Kulon National Park will have the means to improve their economic level through the various activities that generate alternative income.
WWF-Indonesia's Ujung Kulon project has helped this cooperative group from its establishment. Cooperative group is designed to address ecotourism activities in Ujung Kulon National Park.
About 2, 500 people lived in this village of Taman Jaya is located in the buffer zone of Ujung Kulon National Park, so the National Park area is easily accessible from the village.
Taman Jaya villagers typically work as farmers and fishermen. Their education level ranged from elementary to high school graduates.
WWF-Indonesia's Ujung Kulon project has been implementing community development programs in the buffer zone. Taman Jaya has become a primary site for implementing programs, as Jaya Park has characteristics suitable for the development of community-based conservation.
In previous years, several small community-based working groups have been formed. These groups were particularly active in generating alternative incomes for their members. Thus, dependency on natural resources will be reduced, and converted into the many ways that ensure the sustainability of natural resources
