Aimed to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN countries into a more cohesive ASEAN Community, Inrternet users in these 10 South East Asian Nations have agreed to form an ASEAN Blogger Community, to be established at the ASEAN Blogger Festival in Solo, Central Java, from 10 May – 12 May 2013.
Carrying the theme : “Reinventing the Siprit of Cultural Heritage in Southeast Asia” the ASEAN Blogger Festival is expected to be attended by around 50 bloggers from among the ASEAN region and 200 bloggers from various parts of Indonesia, in addition to the presence of prominent invitees.
This regional meeting will discuss common roots of ASEAN cultural heritage besides being a venue for bloggers from around the region to share experiences and ideas.
A number of tentative programs have been formulated including a seminar on ASEAN Cultural Heritage and Tourism, information exchange among Internet users in the ASEAN region, discussion on the role of social meda in the process of ASEAN integration, Action Plan of the ASEAN Blogger Community, an exhibition, cultural performances, competitions, Culinary festival on various food of ASEAN and others.
The ASEAN Blogger Festival is supported by 3 government Ministries, namely : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs,, The Ministry for Communication and Information, The Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economy, and the local government of the city of Solo as host city. Solo has been chosen as the first venue for the Festival since Solo holds important links to the history and heritage of a number of ASEAN countries. As a tourist destination, Solo is determined to develop this city into an important destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferecnes and Exhitibtions (MICE).
