Jakarta Fair is the country’s largest Fair held every year in conjunction with Jakarta’s anniversary, which falls on 22 June, and will last for one whole month.
Taking over the larger part of the Jakarta International Expo at Kemayoran, Jakarta Fair will be opened with a bang, with fireworks lighting up the evening sky on opening night, 6 June. The Fair will be open for one month until 7 July.
Originally called Pasar Gambir, held on Merdeka Square, - in colonial days called Koningsplein, - the Fair has been moved to its present location at the Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran. Not just a prime exhibition of all kinds of Indonesian-made products, Jakarta Fair has consistently retained its original concept of a Night Market Fair that offers recreation, shopping and fun for the whole family.
The Fair has been modernized to contain large exhibition space for all Indonesian products from cars, motorbikes to computers, handicrafts, food and drinks , household items, and all kinds of manufactured goods. In all, some 2,650 companies will be participating in Jakarta Fair this year.
The Market Fair atmosphere is provided by the many stalls selling all sorts of foodstuffs, and music blaring from all corners of the Fair.
This year the public will enjoy nightly concerts brought by Indonesia’s top singers and bands. Appearing will be among others, Agnes Monica, Ari Lasso, Glen Fredley, Iwan Fals besides bands Slank, the Cangcuters, Gigi, Kotak, Coklat, Nidji, God Bless, Geisha and a host more.
Organizers expect more than 4 million people to visit Jakarta Fair this year.
Tickets are Rp. 20,000 per person on Mondays through Thursdays, and Rp. 25,000 on weekends from Fridays through Sundays.
