Just a short ferry ride away from Singapore, the island of Batam in the Riau Islands, will be the site of one of the biggest Marine Exhibitions in Indonesia when the Indonesia Marine & Offshore Expo 2014 takes place from 19th to 21st August 2014.
To be held at the Swiss-Bel Hotel, Batam, the Indonesia Marine & Offshore Expo (IMOX) 2014 is an international maritime and offshore industrial event that will bring an assembly of international companies to interact and showcase their products. The Expo is projected to bring together more than 8,000 industries and professionals to address some of the relevant issues regarding the booming offshore, shipbuilding and maritime industries in Indonesia. This ranges from technological perspectives to the dynamic market trends.
The Indonesia Marine & Offshore Expo 2014 presents excellent marketing, education and networking prospects. The event also offers the ideal platform to explore various new maritime, offshore and shipbuilding opportunities in Indonesia as also to penetrate the emerging markets.

There are currently over 70 shipyards and more than 500 supporting industries located in Batam. Among Some major shipyards and offshore rig fabricators here includes: MacDermott, Nippon Steel, PT ASL, PT Palindo Marine Industry, PT Batamec and PT Drydocks World. While in general, The Indonesian National Ship-owners Association (INSA) predicts that Indonesia will see around 20 percent growth in the shipping industry this year on the back of the country’s healthy economic performance. The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has also prepared a road map for Indonesia’s shipbuilding industry development in 2012-2025. Among the targets is that by 2020, the national shipbuilding industry will be able to produce vessels with a capacity of 200 thousand tons.
