Bosowa Corporation, a leading multi-business corporation in East Indonesia, working together with Run ID Event Organizers and the Athletic Association of Indonesia (PASI) Makassar,  presents  the Bosowa Half Marathon to take place in Makassar on 16th February 2014 to commemorate Bosowa’s 41st anniversary.

 

Carrying the theme “Everyone can be a Champion”, the race will be divided into four main categories: 21K open, 21K closed, 10K closed, and 5K closed. There will also be special categories for children and veterans (over 40 years old).The open category is intended for both national and international participants, while the closed category is for Indonesian nationals only. International participants are allowed to take part in the closed category, but are not be entitled for podium prizes.

 

Competing for a total prize of IDR 430 million, the race will award over 30 podium winners in its various categories. Just as the theme states, medals will not only be given to winners, but also to all who have successfully crossed the finish line, since “Everyone is a Champion”. There will be 4,000 medals for grabs.

 

The race is expected to attract no less than 4,000 national and international participants. A number of running clubs from all over the archipelago are also invited to join the race.

 

The half marathon will be centered at the Bosowa Tower, where will be the start and finish line. The routes are similar to the earlier Bosowa 10K Road Race which took place on 24th February 2013 with  additions especially to the 21K category. The race will also use MyLaps Timing system to track each racer in every category. MYLAPS timing systems are used worldwide by many sports events such as at the Boston Marathon, the Honolulu Marathon, Indy Racing League, MotoGP, NASCAR, and more.

 

Formerly called Ujung Pandang, the city of Makassar is the capital city of the province of South Sulawesi and  is also the largest city in eastern  Indonesia. As an important airline hub, Makassar is served by many Indonesian airlines flying from Indonesian business centers such as JakartaSurabaya and Bali, using Makassar both as final destination or transit airport. Most airlines continue to Manado, the Moluccas or onward to Papua to the airports of Biak, Jayapura, ManokwariSorong and Merauke. Airlines serving Makassar include: Garuda Indonesia, Air Asia, Batavia Air, Lion Air, Merpati and Sriwijaya Air.
