Liverpool FC to thrill Jakarta in match vs Indonesia’s National Team

Following the Arsenal Football Club match in Jakarta , "the Gunners" from London, who successfully thrilled their Indonesian fans on 14th July 2013, - the Indonesian football scene has yet again welcomed another legendary football club from England to play against Indonesia's National Team. On Saturday 20th July 2013, the pride of Merseyside, Liverpool FC will play to capacity crowd on the green grass of Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

The international Friendly Match in Jakarta also kicks off this year's Liverpool FC Asia Tour 2013 in which the club will continue to play against Melbourne Victory in Australia on 24th July 2013 and the Thailand National Team in Bangkok on 28th July 2013.

For the South East Asia and Australia tour, Liverpool will bring 28 players, a combination of well known senior players and emerging new stars. However, for the match in Jakarta, Uruguay striker Luiz Suarez, Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina, and Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates will not be joining the team since they had just participated for their own national teams in the Confederation Cup.

Led by Liverpool's undisputed living legend Steven Gerrad, the 25 players who will make their appearance in Jakarta are: Brad Jones, Simon Mignolet, Glen Johnson, Jose Enrique, Kolo Toure, Daniel Agger, Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Philippe Coutinho, dan Oussama Assaidi, Daniel Pacheco, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Jay Spearing, Lucas Leiva, Joe Allen, Fabio Borini, Raheem Sterling, Martin Kelly, Martin Skrtel, Jon Flanagan, Andrew Wisdom, Jack Robinson, Jordon Ibe, and Head Coach Brendan Rodgers.

The "Anfield Gang" landed at Jakarta's Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport on Wednesday 17th July 2013, warmly welcomed by a crowd of fans. The team did not just hop on a regular plane, but a special custom decorated Garuda Indonesia Airplane bearing the number GA991 that was flown specially to John Lennon Airport in Liverpool to carry the team to Jakarta and on to Melbourne and Bangkok on the Asia Tour.

Garuda Indonesia is the Global Official Airline Partner of Liverpool FC. The club logo featuring the famous "Liver" Bird highlights the front of the fuselage. Under the big Garuda Indonesia logo with the iconic Garuda Bird, the legendary motto of Liverpool "You'll Never Walk Alone" was also written just over the wings of the plane.

The special appearance of the airplane caught the attention of the British public, since its departure from the John Lennon Airport, Liverpool on 16th July 2013. The hype about the airplane that carried the team also became a trending topic in Twitter that day.

During their stay in Jakarta, Garuda and Liverpool FC will officially launch the Garuda Indonesia-Liverpool FC GFF Card (limited edition), which allows cardholders to receive significant discounts on all Liverpool FC merchandise, and special rates for entry to the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, besides benefits in Garuda Frequent Flyer program.

Garuda Indonesia plans to start regular flights between Jakarta and London this November 2013.
