Lately Garuda Indonesia has also expanded its wings to cover the more far-flung islands with smaller airports in the eastern part of Indonesia using their new fleet of short-haul aircrafts, linking Jakarta and Bali with Lombok, Malang, Labuan Bajo, Ende, to Biak and Sorong in Papua. Garuda plans to open more inter-connecting routes among the towns on Papua to further enhance air transport on this huge island.
