Indonesia Tourism Investment Day at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta

On Monday, 22 October 2012 the Tourism Investment Day, or ITID, will be held in Jakarta at the prestigious JW Marriott Hotel. This important event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, The Ministry of Forestry, and the Ministry for Seas and Fisheries.
The first such tourism business forum in to be held in Indonesia, the event allows meetings of potential investors, CEO’s, Indonesian tourism property developer, members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, the Chambers of Commerce from ASEAN, Middle East, China, Japan, South Korea and South Africa to meet directly with members of the Association of Indonesian Tourism Resorts (AKPI), provincial and district governments with great tourism potentials, as well as with small islands and forest areas open to tourism investments.
Already some 100 investors have registered hailing from Indonesia, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia and Malaysia, to make business contacts with 7 provincial and district governments, said Director General for Tourism Development, Firmansyah Rahim.
Besides facilitating G to G and B to B meetings, the Forum will also have a panel discussion on the theme “Discover Opportunities for The Tourism Invesment in Indonesia”, with presentations to investors, followed by the signing of a number of MoUs and Letters of Interest between resorts and foreign investors.
Among MoU’s to be signed are between PT Banten West Java (for the Tanjung Lesung Project) with Longlife Holding Co., Ltd and Damac Holding Co, as well as between PT Bali Tourism Development Corporation (for Mandalika Project in Lombok) with the Marina Cove and Damac Holding Co (Mandalika Project).
Meanwhile. presentations will be given on the Acceleration of Development Projects (MP3EI) covering Bali to East Nusatenggara, National Parks and small islands in West Nusatenggara, on Lake Toba, the Bugam Raya in Central Kalimantan, Wangi-wangi in Central Sulawesi, and on Central Lombok. While presentatations on comprehensive tourism resorts will cover: the Mandalika Resiort in Lombok, the Tanjung Lesung in Banten, Lagoi Bay in the Riau Islands, Belitung in Bangka Belitung, Sari Ater in West Java, the Sentul Nirwana Resort in Bogor and Teluk Mekaki in East Nusatenggara.
Firmansyah further informed that until the second quarter of 2012, investments utilizing Foreign Investment facilities (PMA) have doubled reaching Rp 4.187 trillion compared to the same period last year, which reached Rp 2.422 trillion, while investments utilising Domestic Investment Facilities (PMDN) reached Rp 0.678.5 trillion, a significant increase compared to the same period last year which registered Rp 0.394.2 trillion.
