Bangka Belitung / Hidden Beauty of Belitung Island
« Last post by mivtah23 on October 22, 2014, 05:28:12 PM »
When someone asked me "Where do you come from?" and i said "Indonesia", spontaneously they said "Bali?" ::)

And then i realize that Indonesia in the eyes of international tourists is only Bali..  ???
Well, it's not wrong, Bali is part of Indonesia.. But Indonesia is not just about Bali, we have many other destinations.

For example, Belitung island, an island with lots of natural resources, you name it, woods, plants, panorama, fishes, and many more. Hundred years ago the Dutch Colonial discovered Belitung island as the gems for tin and kaolin resources and named it as Billiton. It was quickly developed into one of the hub, more modern and developed than the old Batavia. However all those glories seems to have vanished long ago as the resource for the mining in Belitung was depleting.

Belitung is well known for its ornaments of gigantic granite stones positioned in “only-God-knows-how” ways all around the island, pristine crystal clear sea water with white sands, preserved natural beauty.
And this island's beauty known as "The Maldives of Indonesia". And it took only 50 minutes from Jakarta to Tanjung Pandan.

If you are going to visit Belitung, you must visit this resort called "Arumdalu Private Resort", the first and the only eco luxury private resort in Belitung island, located in Membalong district. The focus of this resort is not only for their food, beach, but also the culture of Belitung island. They try to build their culture by providing "Batik Class" to all customer and also to the local people. This eco luxury private resort also have their own way to preserve the nature, by become the "Zero waste" resort..What does it mean?

It means that every waste in this resort is useful, from water to the plastic, they can recycle it. In Arumdalu, they recycle the water to prevent the waste from flowing to the sea, and the recycle water use to watering the plants. Not only that, they also use the recycle plastic as their decoration on the garden and gazebo in every villa.

One thing that attracts my attention is that if you look around in this resort, you can't find any paint on their wall, not in the kitchen, not in the bedroom, not in the restaurant, this is their own way to reduce the pollution. To substitute the paint, they use rocks as an ornaments.

If you want to know more about this resort, please kindly visit their website www.arumdalubelitung.com.

PS: you can book your reservation by phone or from their website.  ;)

Thank you for reading this thread, and i hope you can share it to others.  :D

Komodo National Park is located in the center of the Indonesian archipelago, between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. Established in 1980, initially the main purpose of the Park was to conserve the unique Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) and its habitat. However, over the years, the goals for the Park have expanded to protecting its entire biodiversity, both terrestrial and marine. In 1986, the Park was declared a World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, both indications of the Park's biological importance.
