31 Aug 2013 - 1 Sep 2013

After last year's successful inaugural edition, the MetaMan Iron Distance Thriathlon Southeast Asia Championship returns to beautiful Bintan Island in the Riau Archipelago Province from 31st August to 1st September 2013, to take place at the Nirwana Garden Resort.

"Uniquely Combining Sports and Tourism", the Bintan MetaMan is hailed as one of the biggest annual triathlons in South East Asia. Compared to other similar sporting events such as the Tour de Singkarak cycling races in West Sumatra, and the Bintan Triathlon, the MetaMan has its own unique characteristics.

Competing for the total prize of US$154,000, this year the event is divided into two categories, namely MetaMan Age Groups and MetaMan Half Age Groups. The course of the triathlon will stretch from the Nirwana Garden Resort, North Bintan, Sei Kuala Lobam, to Teluk Sebong. The Championship will begin with the swimming stage on the coast facing the South China Sea. The half distance category will take on 1 lap of the 1.900m swimming course, while the iron distance will take on two full laps of the course. Subsequently, participants will continue to the cycling stage which will take on 90Km for the half iron distance and 180km for the full iron distance. Participants will go through a smooth asphalt road amidst beautiful green environment. The pinnacle of the competition will be the running stage which will cover the course of 21.1Km for the half iron distance and 42.2 Km for the full iron distance.

Aside from the competition, the MetaMan Iron Distance Triathlon 2013 will also be highlighted with the Bintan Cultural Festival 2013. The festival will present various art performances, creative products exhibition as well as a culinary bazaar.
