Police Bands from Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, USA and Indonesia will brighten up the day parading down Jakarta’s main Thamrin Avenue on Sunday 1 September in the World Police Band Concert 2013 , followed by a special concert on 2 September at the Theater Building in Taman Ismail Marzuki Complex in Cikini, reports Kompas daily.
The Concert is held in conjunction with the celebration of Japan-Indonesia 55 years’ diplomatic ties and Japan-ASEAN 40 years’ cooperation. Police Bands to perform in Jakarta are the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Band (Japan), Seoul Metropolitan Police Ban d (South Korea), Vietnam Ministry of Public Security Police Band (Vietnam), the New York Police Department Band (USA) and the Akademi Kepolisian (Akpol) Republik Indonesia. This is the first time that Indonesia joins the World Police Band Concert.
The parade of world’s police bands will start from the Hotel Indonesia Circle down the 1.5 km Thamrin avenue during Jakarta’s car free day, starting 08.00 am to 09.30 am.
On 2 September, each band will give a recital at the Gedung Teater Jakarta at TIM in Cikini from 07.30 pm.
The program is organized by the World Police Band Concert Committee together with Mainichi Newspapers Co., and supported by the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, the Mission of Japan to ASEAN, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the province of Jakarta and Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The World Police Band Concerts have been held 17 times around the world, among which in China, Paris, Dusseldorf, Berlin, New York and Los Angeles, Singapore, Hongkong and other major cities. Last year it was held in Tokyo.
