Fort Marlborough is a British fort located on Jalan Ahmad Yani in central Bengkulu City. The fort was established between the years of 1713 and 1719 by the East India Company under the leadership of Governor Joseph Callet.
Fort Marlborough originally served as a defensive fortress as well as central control station for the Malacca Strait. It was later converted into a trading post for pepper and other commodities. The fort takes its name from British soldier, hero and prince, John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough.
