The holiday islands of Batam and Bintan in the Riau Archipelago, better known as Kepri, continue to report fully booked golf courses, hotels and ferries over the Eid holidays. This is in spite of recent flyers and messages on social media that warned that terrorists were aiming at visitors there.
In response to these notes, Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya, informed the press that the Indonesian authorities, in particular the Police and the Mobile Brigade have heightened security measures on the islands, especially at harbors and resorts. All authorities are also in constant contact with the Singapore Consulate in Batam. On Bintan, security measures have also been tightened across the island, including along the northern coast at Bintan Resorts.
Minister Arief Yahya affirmed that all measures have been taken to keep Indonesia safe, including on Batam and Bintan, so that all holiday makers, both Indonesians and foreigners may enjoy their vacation as planned.
