Indonesia has Launched Immigration on Shipping to Provide A Better Experience for Cruise Ship Tourists

 

(Jakarta, November 2, 2022) - Tourism all over the globe is recovering and starting to show signs of significant improvements. Recently, Indonesia has implemented an Immigration on Shipping (IoS) service to increase tourists’ interest to visit the country by cruise ship. By providing a seamless and convenient service, this effort was made to boost tourists' arrival to Indonesia, reviving the nation’s tourism as well as economy.

The Immigration on Shipping program has already been provided to the passengers of the MV National Geographic Orion from the Bahamas carrying 53 tourists and 66 crew members. The cruise ship was docked in Sumbawa and Benoa Harbor in Bali, bringing its passengers to enjoy the spectacular charm of Wonderful Indonesia.

Indonesia has also welcomed the arrival of other cruise ships, including the MS Queen Elizabeth from Singapore. This cruise ship arrived on the archipelago Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Tanjung Priok Harbour in Jakarta. Bringing 1768 foreign tourists, 519 of them came down to enjoy various popular attractions of the city, including the Old Town, the Grand Istiqlal Mosque, the Jakarta Catholic Cathedral, and many more. These cruise ships were among the first ones to arrive in Indonesia post-pandemic

On 3 November 2022, two other cruise ships also arrived in Bali. Coming from Australia and Norwegia, these cruise ships brought in a total of 2.083 foreign tourists who are looking to spend time on the Island of Gods. Aside from these two cruise ships, 14 more cruise ships are also scheduled to enter Bali for the rest of the year. 

Previously, Indonesia also implemented several other programs to attract more tourist visits, including VOA (Visa on Arrival) and Second Home Visa. Furthermore, the nation is also planning to launch more programs, which include eVOA, providing tourists with an easier way to attain Indonesian VOA.
