In conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund & World Bank Group (IMF-WBG) now on going on the beautiful island of Bali, the Desa Wisata Nusantara (The Archipelago Tourism Villages) Foundation will showcase the charm and potentials of a range of tourism villages across Indonesia in the first ever Archipelago Tourism Villages Festival 2018. The Festival will be launched from 12th to 14th October 2018 at the Astina Field, in the appealing village of Ubud on Bali.
The festival will feature all tourism villages in many parts scattered across the Indonesian islands including those that have already become popular as a tourist destination as well as emerging tourism villages complete with its unique attractions. Decorated with each of its distinct style and characteristics, the booths of the villages will, moreover, present diverse attractions that include unique a wide range of traditional arts and cultural performances, handicrafts, culinary offerings, and a whole lot more.
A workshop on the Strategies related to Village Tourism development is also organized featuring academics and practitioners from related fields. Visitors will be treated with a number of unique art and cultural performances, games and competitions from participating villages.
Delegations from 187 countries taking part in the IMF –WBG Annual Meeting are scheduled to attend the festival as part of the convention’s agenda. They will have the opportunity to join in the tours visiting tourism villages in Bangli and Karangasem regions. Aside from further introducing the abundant splendors and potentials of the various tourism villages across Indonesia, the event is also aimed to directly promote the many tour packages on offer by festival participants. Delegations of IMF-WBG Annual Meeting who will attend the festival will hopefully feel attracted to join.
For those who happen to be in Bali during these dates, the festival will be the perfect opportunity to explore the fascinating wonders and exciting activities that you can find in many tourism villages across the archipelago.
Indonesian villages are bearers of multiple ancient traditions, beliefs, and ways of life, that have been handed down through the generations to this present day. In Flores and Sumba you will see villages still continuing traditions from the Megalithic age, while in villages near Yogyakarta visitors are invited to stay in their homes and experience their daily life. Others again are well known for their unique handicrafts and woven fabrics. While the village of Penglipuran in Bali has been credited with the Cleanest Village in the world.
An up close and personal experience with villagers will provide visitors with lasting memories of living amongst warm and friendly Indonesians, moment that are not easily forgotten.
