Boosting connectivity to the enchanting underwater paradise of Wakatobi in South East Sulawesi, Wings Air launched its new direct flights between Makassar and Wakatobi, operating daily 7 times a week. The launch of the new direct route was marked by the inaugural landing of the flight at the Matohara Airport in Wakatobi on Thursday, 1st November 2016, where the flight was officially received by the District Head of Wakatobi.
Makassar is capital city of the South Sulawesi province and is the principle airhub to the wonders of east Indonesia.
The new route adds to existing Wings Air flights that fly Makassar-Kendari-Wakatobi, and are also operated daily 7 times a week.
As explained by representatives of Wings Air, the direct flight from Makassar to Wakatobi takes off daily from Makassar at around 12:05pm Central Indonesia Time.
Served by ATR 72-600 aircraft, the plane has a total capacity of 71 passengers. The direct flight will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. As regards the ticket price, Samanhudi from Wings Air explained that this will depend on the level of demand of passengers. “At the moment, for this inaugural flight, the ticket price for the direct flight Makassar-Wakatobi is set at IDR560, 000. However when the number of passengers increases, adjustments will surely be made to the price.” Added Samanhudi.
The launch of the direct flight comes just in time as Wakatobi is set to hold its Wakatobi Wave Festival, due to take place from 15th to 18th December 2016.
