On 3rd August 2020, Indonesia launched Online Onshore Visa Application Services for foreign nationals currently residing in Indonesia. This means that foreign nationals holding Indonesian Immigration Stay Permits can apply for a visa without leaving Indonesia. The two types of visas that can be applied for are Visit Visas (Visitor’s Visa) and Temporary Stay Permits (VITAS).
To use this service, one must complete the following procedures:
Kindly note that visit visa holders can apply for a stay permit extension in person at an immigration office. Temporary stay visa holders must also apply for a new stay permit in person at the immigration office after receiving a new visa by email.
Any foreign national residing in Indonesia can apply for a visa in person or individually without third parties. One should also watch out for a visa scam that is being run in the Directorate General of Immigration’s name and report to the Directorate General of Immigration in case of exposure to this scam.
