The Traditional and Cultural Festival of Lom Plai

About the Event
Lom Plai is a ritual performed after the rice harvest, held once a year, and has been carried out for generations for many decades. This event is a form of gratitude and thanks to God Almighty for the bountiful rice harvest, prosperity, and the well-being of the community. It also serves as a reminder of the sacrifice of Princess Long Diang Yung.
The story goes that a long drought led to crop failure and famine. During this time, Boq Diang Yung received a revelation from the Creator to sacrifice his only daughter, Long Diang Yung, in order to save his people from disaster. With a heavy heart, Boq Diang Yung obeyed the command.

When his daughter was sacrificed, her blood flowed into the earth and transformed into rice plants that multiplied, fulfilling the needs of the community. Boq Diang Yung swore that the descendants of the Dayak Wehea tribe must carry out the Lom Plai ritual to commemorate and remember his daughter's sacrifice.
The Lom Plai cultural celebration will be enlivened with various traditional rituals and cultural performances. In addition, there will be displays of traditional arts and games, exhibitions or bazaars featuring local wisdom-themed UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), folk entertainment, and competitions.
