Sriwijaya Festival

The Sriwijaya Festival is an event that unites communities under the Sriwijaya Kingdom, particularly in Palembang and generally in South Sumatra. This festival showcases cultural and artistic performances from 17 regencies and cities across South Sumatra Province at the heart of Palembang, specifically at Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB).  

The Sriwijaya Festival 2025 adopts the theme “The Kingdom of Archipelago,” a term that refers to a cluster of islands stretching from the Indo-China Sea to the Nusantara Archipelago. This theme highlights the legacy and glory of the Sriwijaya Kingdom as the largest maritime empire in Indonesia’s history. It aims to revisit the kingdom’s achievements in economy, science, history, arts, and culture.  

The event’s concept includes the following elements: 1. Knowledge and History, 2. South Sumatra Cultural Congress , 3. Sriwijaya Heritage Exhibition, 4. Sriwijaya Writer Festival, 5. Sriwijaya Historical Footprints, 6. Creative Economy Bazaar and Exhibition.
