No. 108/SP/TKM-ASEAN2023/INA/9/2023

Jakarta, September 6, 2023 – Foreign media journalists expressed their satisfaction with the services provided at the Media Center of the 43rd ASEAN Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.

Kouch Vengsrun, for instance, did not expect the Media Center facilities at the 43rd ASEAN Summit to be so complete and beyond his expectations. The journalist from Cambodia felt that the media and journalists were highly valued, with all their needs and information easily accessible.

Vengsrun, who was tasked with reporting on the Southeast Asian regional forum to his country, stated, “The facilities are very good, everything is well organized. I really appreciate it. This Media Center (for the 43rd ASEAN Summit) is very comfortable, and everyone here is very friendly to us,” he said when met on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

In addition to being pampered with various facilities, Kouch also praised the internet speed provided through Wi-Fi and LAN, which was prepared by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) in collaboration with PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel).

He felt greatly assisted by the computer facilities and fast internet connections at the Media Center and throughout the event venue during the 43rd ASEAN Summit activities. “Everything is great,” he added.

Regarding food, Kouch was also impressed. He mentioned that he enjoyed the variety of nonstop meals provided to support the media's work. He said the taste of the food at the Media Center suited his preferences.

"I like all the food, the taste is similar to food in Cambodia. I really enjoyed it," he concluded.

Fast Internet, Excellent Service

The internet service at the Media Center of the 43rd ASEAN Summit also received praise from journalists from Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam.

Hamdi, a journalist from Brunei Darussalam's Radio Television Brunei, confirmed that the internet speed at the Media Center was sufficient. “The internet at the Media Center is very fast and really helps our work,” he said.

In addition to the internet, Hamdi mentioned that the staff were very helpful and friendly. "We thank the staff at the Media Center for making it easy for us to work," he added.

Nguyen, a journalist from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), also shared a similar sentiment. According to Nguyen, the internet at the Media Center of the ASEAN Summit was fast enough. "The Media Center for the 43rd ASEAN Summit is very spacious, which makes it comfortable for us to work," he said.

Previously, the Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), Usman Kansong, stated that the Media Center for the 43rd ASEAN Summit operated for a week from September 2 to 8, 2023. This area has a capacity of 2,500 people, with a space capacity adjusted to the number of registered journalists, totaling 1,300 people, along with additional official media following the 43rd ASEAN Summit delegation.

Kominfo provided a comprehensive range of facilities that operated 24 hours to meet the coverage needs of media colleagues. “For the media teams that have registered and completed their registration, they can collect their ID badges at the Media Center,” said Usman.

In addition to the media center, Kominfo also provided 240 LAN computer workstations supported by a 1.5 Gbps internet connection from Telkom. There was also a special international broadcast distribution center, 10 media partner booths measuring 5 x 3 meters, and an audio-video editing booth.

The Media Center was equipped with a one-on-one studio, multi-format broadcast conversion, a media briefing room, a press conference room with a capacity of 300 people and five interpreters, two stand-up positions, webcast/live streaming, a media lounge, a medical emergency room, and storage facilities.

Kominfo's media center also prepared bilingual press releases, photos, video packages in two languages, clean feed broadcasts, bulletins, press briefings, and technical guidelines for journalists. “We provide publicity and distribution tables, a photocopy corner, writing tools, several TV monitors, and several lots for SNG,” explained Usman.

To reach the Media Center of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, media personnel could use shuttle buses circulating from hotels and public transport stations around the JCC.
