Fantastic Lake Toba will be connected with direct flights from Malaysia, flown by Malindo Air and Air Asia.
Starting 17 August 2018, coinciding with Indonesia’s 73rd Independence Day, Malindo Air will fly from Kuala Lumpur’s Subang Airport to Silangit airport at huge LakeToba, on Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays leaving 13.45 local time with flight No. OE360.
While return flights from Silangit to Subang will operate the same days at 14.50 West Indonesia Time, flight number OD361.
Tickets are already available, costing RM 189 from Subang and Rp. 674 from Silangit, said Deputy Minister for Marketing Region I, I Gde Pitana, at the close of the meeting with representatives of both Malindo Air and Air Asia and regional authorities on 30 July.

The timing cannot be better, said Pitana, since on Indonesia’s National Day the whole country, from cities to villages will all celebrate the occasion with fairs, fun, and games.
Besides, on 25th August the sensational Samosir Music International Festival 2018 will take place at the Village of Tuktukon Samosir Island, where droves of overseas and domestic tourists are expected to gather.

Meantime, AirAsia is scheduled to fly Kuala Lumpur-Silangit starting 28 October 2018, with flight no. AK412. Air Asia plans to fly also on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, leaving KL at 11.25 local time. 28 October is also an auspicious day for Indonesia, since on this day in 1928, long before national Independence, the Indonesian Youth pledged to form the Indonesian nation with the motto: Satu Nusa, Satu Bangsa, Satu Bahasa, meaning Country, One Nation, One Language.
Lake Toba and its stunning surroundings have surged back to life ever since the Silangit Airport at Lake Toba was expanded and planned to become an international airport, improvements made on infrastructure, and regular musical and sports Events staged supported by the local population.

From Singapore, Citilink was the first airline to fly to Silangit using the Bombardier CRJ-100 aircraft.
