MEET FULLY REVIVED LOMBOK-SUMBAWA BACK at 11thITB Asia, Singapore

Indonesia will make its presence  strongly felt at this year’s ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Börse), which takes place from 17th to 19th October 2018 at Marina Bay Sands ,Singapore.

At the Asia division of ITB Berlin, Indonesia will confirm to the world that tourism to Lombok and Sumbawa and adjacent islands in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, have fully recovered and that the tourism industry is ready to welcome visitors back to its picturesque shores.

The theme: “West Nusa Tenggara has Revived” was specially chosen by the Ministry of Tourism for this event. Through this theme, Indonesia aims to reboot the image  in the  international world that West Nusa Tenggara and beyond are Now Ready to welcome back guests to its many tropical gems including those struck by last August earthquake. While destinations that were not directly impacted  have meanwhile continued unabated to host tourists to the swathes of white beaches and blue seas at  Mandalika (Kuta Beach, Tanjung Aan, and Merese Hill), the idyllic Sekotong  Islets (Gili Nanggu, GiliS Udak, and GiliKedis) Tete Batu, and the City of Mataram.

“We bring great news from West Nusa Tenggara:  that tourism to the province has fully recovered. For this reason, therefore, the tourism Industry of Lombok and Sumbawa now  participate in ITB Asia bringing exciting  tour packages  that are ready to be offered to buyers” said Masrurohm,  Assistant Deputy of Marketing Development I Region I of the Ministry of Tourism.

To further reverberate the revival of West Nusa Tenggara tourism around the world,  on 18th October 2018, the Ministry of Tourism will hold a special session at a  Businesses Meeting with  ITB buyers. Over 150 buyers have been invited to attend the Gala Dinner that features typical icons of Lombok  and surrounding Islands. “For this business meeting, 7 representatives from the West Nusa Tenggara tourism industry will present an array of amazing destinations through attractive tour packages to West Nusa Tenggara and beyond. The rapid progress  made on West Nusa Tenggara’s recovery will also be presented”, added Masruroh.

At this year’s ITB Asia, Indonesia occupies a 405 sqm pavilion dominated as at alll events by the majestic Phinisi Schooner. In this pavilion, 91 tourism operators from 15 provinces across the Indonesian archipelago will also showcase their best products and services. These provinces are: Bangka Belitung, the Riau Islands, South Sumatra, Lampung, Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, West Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Papua, and ofcourse, Bali.

Speaking about Indonesia’s participation in the event, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya commented that: “The event will bring together Indonesian sellers with over 1,265 international buyers.  Additionally, also attending will be thousands of delegates and visitors from many countries including those from beyond  the Asian region. Through this event, Indonesia’s tourism industry will have the opportunity to create networks with potential buyers from many countries.”

Aside from this, Indonesia will also participate in the Muslim Travel Pavilion of ITB Asia. The Muslim Travel Pavilion is a showcase of tourism products and services specifically participated by the halal and Muslim Tourist Destinations.

Furthermore, to boost the promotion of Indonesian tourism overseas, the Ministry of Tourism is also currently developing the “Generation of Wonderful Indonesia (GenWi) International” communities. Through the formation of Genwi International, the Ministry invites Indonesians living overseas, known as the Indonesian diaspora to further promote Indonesia’s multiple destinations onto the international scene. As explained by the Special Staff for Communication and Media of the Ministry of Tourism, Don Kardono, the formation of GenWi International is aimed to facilitate the coordination of Indonesia’s GenWi communities around the world.
