Medan Heritage City Tour
The City Tour begins by visiting the Palace of Deli Sultanate, namely “Istana Maimun”, which was built in 1888 by Sultan Mahmud Al-Rashid Perkasa Alam” with its unique architecture”, a mixture of Middle East, Europe and Malay styles. Then proceed to another heritage of the Sultanate, a beautiful Moroccan and Malay styled architecture of the Royal Grand Mosque.
After visiting this Islamic heritage, continue to the Chinese temple called ViharaGunungTimur was built in 1962. Generally the Buddhist pray at this temple every day. It is also used for other rituals such as the anniversary of
Sidharta Gautama and usually held within 4-15 April every year, Imlek, etc.
After visiting ViharaGunungTimur drive to Kesawan area to see some Dutch Heritage Building such as Lonsum Building, Post Office, City Hall and Merdeka Square. Afterwards, we will visit “TjongAfie” mansion which provides a picture of the golden era of Mr.TjongAfie, the richest Chinese man during the Dutch colonial time. Other interesting sites in this area is Tip Top Restaurant. Here you can take a rest while enjoying tea or coffee with the dutch old style before ending your unforgettable city tour. After the city tour you will be transferred to your hotel in Medan.
