Endlessly captivating those who have experienced its fascinating splendors, the enchanting island of Bali was again named Best Island in the World by DestinAsianReaders’ Choice Award (RCA) 2017. Confirming her everlasting charms, this is the 12th consecutive years for Bali to hold this prestigious title given by the renowned tourism media that is based in Singapore.
Deputy for International Market Development of the Ministry of Tourism, I Gede Pitana expressed his pride that the world continuously appreciates Bali as the Best Island in the World. Bali has for centuries captivated tourists from all over the world through her hospitable people, her unique arts and culture, wonderful nature, culinary richness, and beautiful beaches.
Chairman of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Indonesia Bali Chapter, Tjokorda Artha Ardana Sukawati explained that there are 5 indicators that have always placed Bali above other destnations. These are: the uniqueness of her culture and traditions, the hospitality of the people, its natural beauty, culinary presentations, and the expectations of various activities on the island. “Bali has all that, so we welcome and appreciate this acknowledgement” said Tjokorda.
Separately, Deputy for National Market Development of the Ministry of Tourism, Ms, Esthy Reko Astuti also shared her joy at this achievement. “The award confirms the value of Bali in addition to the brand of Wonderful Indonesia on the international scene” said Esthy. Adding that the award will continue to raise the confidence level of the market and the motivation of all stakeholders to maintain and improve on the quality of tourism in Bali.
Aside from Bali, the neighbouring island of Lombok was also placed among the top ten Best islands in the World.
Readers of DestinAsian also placed Alila Villas Uluwatu as Best Boutique Hotel followed by COMO Uma Ubud in 5th place. The title for Best Hotel Spa went to Ayana Spa in Jimbaran, followed by The Spa, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay in 3rd Place. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia Airlines was placed 3rd in Best Economy Class and placed 5th in the category of Best Airline and Best Frequent Flyer Program.
Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya , commented that achievements made in international forums will impact the ‘3C’ of Indonesia’s Tourism, namely: the Confidence level, Credibility, and Calibration. “Keep aiming at top world reputation so that the brand of Wonderful Indonesia will shine in every competition” said the Minister.
