For an extraordinary hiking experience, Bukit Trunyan is best explored during the early hours, around 2:00 AM WITA, allowing you to reach the summit just in time for a breathtaking sunrise. There are two main trails you can take to ascend this stunning hill: one through Trunyan Village and the other via Tianyar Village in Karangasem.

1. Hiking via Trunyan Village

The route through Trunyan Village is a popular choice among hikers. This is due in part to the village’s rich array of attractions and the safety of the trail, which is friendly for beginners. The journey from Trunyan Village to Bukit Trunyan typically takes about three hours, making it a manageable trek for those new to hiking. Located roughly 2.5 hours from Denpasar, Trunyan Village is easily accessible, allowing for a convenient start to your adventure.

2. Hiking via Tianyar Village

The alternative trail from Tianyar Village offers a slightly shorter hike, taking about 2 to 2.5 hours to reach the summit. However, this route is less frequented due to its distance from popular tourist areas in West, South, and Central Bali. Tianyar is situated in East Bali, approximately 3 to 3.5 hours from Denpasar, making it a more remote choice for those seeking solitude in nature.

For those interested in camping at Bukit Trunyan, it’s advisable to hike during the daytime to allow ample time for setting up your tent before nightfall. The recommended camping area is at Post 1, which offers protection from strong winds, ensuring a more comfortable overnight experience.

If you choose to hike from Trunyan Village, several travel agencies provide packages that include comprehensive trekking services. The first package includes complete hiking gear and a guide, with prices ranging from IDR125,000 to IDR400,000 (approximately USD: $8.50 to $27.00). The second package features breakfast and full gear, with prices starting from IDR200,000 to IDR550,000 (approximately USD: $13.50 to $37.00).
