Following the historical visit of King Salman of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia last March and the Wonderful Indonesia Festival held in Oman earlier in October which successfully attracted scores of both travel businesses as well as potential tourists in the region, the hype of "Wonderful Indonesia" will continue to be spread across the Middle East as the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia is set to hold the Wonderful Indonesia Sales Mission in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event will take place at the Tawasul Ballroom, Pullman Hotel, Dubai on 18th to 19th October 2017.

"Both the direct and indirect impact of King Salman's 12 Days' official visit to Jakarta and Bogor, followed by an extended vacation in Bali have been tremendous, which still echoes to this very day. Therefore, we aim to make the best of the momentum by holding the Wonderful Indonesia Sales Mission in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, considered an important hub of the world" said Deputy International Tourism Marketing Development of the Ministry of Tourism, I Gde Pitana. Furthermore, "Just like King Salman, tourists from the Middle East wish to enjoy Indonesia's refreshing green climate and exotic destinations such as Bali, Bandung, Jakarta, and Lombok, and we will put all our best efforts to strongly promote and sell the many destinations across the archipelago during these sales missions, " Pitana added.

Meanwhile, Assistant Deputy Market Development for Europe, Middle East, America, and Africa of the Ministry of Tourism, Nia Niscaya explained that the potential tourist market of the United Arab Emirates is enormous. Although by ratio it may be below Saudi Arabia and Oman, however, combined with the millions of transit travelers and expatriates here, the United Arab Emirates is definitely a powerful market. "Dubai, is an important world travel hub, every day people from all over the world come and go through the airport in huge volume and frequency. It is definitely perfect for our sales mission" said Nia Niscaya.

Nia added that the most significant benefit of the sales mission is to establish and further strengthen the network of Indonesia's tourism with various global stakeholders. "The opportunity will allow us to receive plenty of feedback, exchange market intelligence, as well as receive B2B benefits" said Nia Niscaya.

On his side, Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya positively responded to the sales mission and considered it to be 'right on the spot'. "Dubai is a world travel and communication hub, where millions of people transit every year. We must enter its 'tourism door', bring in strong promotions, so that soon this may lead us further to the global doors" commented Minister Arief Yahya.
