If you’ve been hearing about the tourism recovery preparation in Indonesia and planning to visit soon, then good news: Indonesia has been listed among top 10 countries with the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate according to the data from Bloomberg. The list also includes US, China, India, UK, Brazil, Germany, Turkey, France, and Russia.
The news is of no surprise because according to the data from the Indonesia COVID-19 Task Force from 22 April 2021, the COVID-19 vaccine stage II has been administered to 11,269,213 (27%) people from 40,349,051 vaccination targets which includes health workers, public officers, and elderly.
Aside from the COVID-19 vaccination program, the government also pushes the implementation of health protocol as one of the keys for the tourism recovery plan, which includes Bali as the pilot region. It is reported that 15 airports in Indonesia, including Ngurah Rai International Airport, have been granted Safe Travel Stamps from the World Travel and Tourism Council. This stamp is obtained after Angkasa Pura I, the state-owned company managing the airports in Indonesia, sent the airport health protocol to the agency for complete assessment.
According to the Director of Angkasa Pura I Fahmi Faik, the Safe Travels Stamp is meant to show the public and tourism stakeholders that Angkasa Pura I has consistently implemented health protocols related to preventing the spread of COVID-19, which in this case refers to Safe Travels WTTC dan ICAO Takeoff Guideline for Aviation protocol.
In regards to Bali as the pilot region for tourism recovery plan, it is reported that currently, there are approximately 1,006 tourism stakeholders in Bali that have been granted InDOnesia CARE certification by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. 855 more businesses are also targeted to receive the same certification by the end of 2021. The list includes hotels and non-hotels including restaurants, homestay villas, nature tourism, shopping centers, transportation services, and diving tours. This means that they have met the required standard for the protocol implementation.
Before planning your future trip to Indonesia, keep in mind that you will be subjected to health protocol implementation along your trip to Bali in each checkpoint. Rest assured, your convenience will be taken care of along the journey. It would also be expected for the future travelers to be mindful of their surroundings, comply with the health protocols, and practice healthy habits like social distancing, wearing a face mask in public places, and washing hands frequently.
