Must Note! Here Are the Latest Visa Regulations and Entry Bans to Indonesia

Efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission in Indonesia continue to be carried out by the government, including the implementation of strict health protocols, vaccination programs, and restrictions on community activities. One such measure has been taken by the Directorate General of Immigration. The Directorate General of Immigration has reintroduced the latest regulations regarding entry bans into Indonesia, as well as the issuance of Visit Visas and Limited Stay Visas. These new regulations follow Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 26 of 2020 concerning Visas and Stay Permits during the New Normal Adaptation Period. Some important points that you need to pay attention to include:

A. Foreign nationals who are allowed to enter Indonesia must hold one of the following:

  1. Service Visa
  2. Diplomatic Visa
  3. Visit Visa
  4. Limited Stay Visa
  5. Service Stay Permit
  6. Diplomatic Stay Permit
  7. Limited Stay Permit
  8. Permanent Stay Permit
  9. Crew members arriving with their means of transport
  10. Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (KPP APEC) holders
  11. Traditional Border Crossers

B. Visit Visas may be granted to foreign nationals for the following activities:

  1. Conducting emergency and urgent work
  2. Engaging in business discussions
  3. Purchasing goods
  4. Skill trials for prospective foreign workers
  5. Providing medical and food aid and support
  6. Joining means of transport already in Indonesian territory

A Limited Stay Visa may be granted for activities related to employment and non-employment. However, due to the latest developments in the Covid-19 situation, Visa-Free Visits and Visa on Arrival services are currently unavailable.

C. Limited Stay Visa for employment purposes may be granted to foreign nationals for:

  1. Working as an expert
  2. Joining to work on ships, floating equipment, or installations operating in the Indonesian archipelagic waters, territorial sea, continental shelf, or Exclusive Economic Zone
  3. Providing after-sales service
  4. Installing and repairing machinery
  5. Performing non-permanent construction work
  6. Foreign workers undergoing skill trials

D. Limited Stay Visa for non-employment purposes may be granted to foreign nationals for:

  1. Foreign investment
  2. Family reunification
  3. Senior citizen tourism

To obtain a Limited Stay Visa, you can submit a visa application by attaching an official request letter addressed to the Director General of Immigration via email at visa@imigrasi.go.id. The application format must include the following details:

  • Guarantor’s identity
  • Foreign national’s identity
  • Guarantor’s email address
  • Guarantor’s identification number
  • Application number (if a visa has been previously applied for)

Once the application is approved by the Director General of Immigration, the applicant will receive a Token Number via email, which will be used to submit the visa application through the official website: https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/.

To verify the authenticity of the e-Visa, you can scan the QR Code and ensure that the web address redirects to https://visa.imigrasi.go.id/.
