Jakarta, September 1, 2023 – Three specialty Arabica coffees from Indonesia, crafted by The Gade Coffee and Gold of PT Pegadaian, will be served to delegates and journalists at the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta from September 5–7, 2023. Experience Indonesia in 360.

These three Arabica coffees originate from Mount Ijen in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java; Bajawa Village in Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT); and Boalemo Village in Central Aceh Regency, Aceh. Each of these Arabica varieties offers a unique blend of fruity, spicy, and floral notes.

"We have three high-quality Arabica coffees to contribute to the ASEAN Summit," said Taufan El Savir, Head of the Priority Services Department and The Gade Coffee and Gold at PT Pegadaian, to the 43rd ASEAN Summit Communication and Media Team on Friday (1/9/2023).

These coffee selections will be available for guests and journalists at the Media Center and the 43rd ASEAN Summit venue. The three Arabica varieties are of premium quality, cultivated at altitudes of approximately 1,100 to 1,200 meters above sea level. According to Taufan, this altitude contributes to the diverse flavors of these locally sourced Arabica coffees.

Drawing from his experience brewing coffee at the State Palace, Taufan shared that coffee is often the preferred choice of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and top officials for discussions, both in formal and informal settings.

Coffee has become an essential “vitamin” that keeps President Jokowi and his aides engaged in long discussions. More than just one cup, they sometimes consume more than two. “Pak Prabowo once asked me several times to make coffee,” said Taufan.

A similar experience occurred when he was entrusted with brewing coffee for the delegates of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), some time ago. At that event, many ASEAN delegates ordered more than two cups of coffee from the booth located right in front of the meeting room.

Taufan received numerous compliments from delegates who enjoyed his brewed coffee, further strengthening his belief that a cup of his coffee can have a positive effect on many people.

"I received a lot of appreciation from delegates who enjoyed my coffee," said Taufan.

He also revealed the secret behind why his coffee is widely loved, including by President Jokowi. According to him, the Arabica coffee he brews contains chemical compounds that enhance taste, aroma, and physiological effects.

However, he also reminded coffee drinkers not to overconsume, as excessive intake could have negative health effects. "A maximum of seven cups per day, no more than that," advised Taufan.
