From April 19th to 21st, 2016, the focus will be on the Mentawai Islands of West Sumatra, an ideal paradise for surfers. This will be the first time the region hosts such an event, the charming Mentawai Islands Festival, which will take place at Mapaddegat Beach on Sipora Island in the northern part of the Mentawai Islands.
With full support from the tourism board, the event will feature cultural attractions, tourism activity introductions, and traditional art performances presented by representatives from all 10 districts governed by the Mentawai Islands alongside local tourism industry operators. The festival will also showcase tourism businesses promoting other attractions in West Sumatra. The festival is planned to become an annual event and is expected to become part of the national tourism calendar.
Mapaddegat Beach was chosen as the event's center because of its stunning scenery and because it is one of the most beautiful beaches on Sipora Island and throughout the Mentawai Islands. For this festival, the organizing committee is working hard to prepare accommodations, transportation, and necessary facilities.

They include four small islands: Siberut, Sipora, North Pagai, and South Pagai. With no world-class shopping malls or theme parks, this place is truly a surfer's paradise, attracting visitors who come to experience adventures in this remote area.
