This step is being taken as an effort to support the implementation and success of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which will be held from September 5-7, 2023, in Jakarta.
The Head of Soekarno-Hatta Class I Special Immigration Office, Muhammad Tito Andrianto, stated that the special facilities are being prepared to ensure smooth immigration checks for the ASEAN Summit delegations, considering the high traffic of travelers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
"We are providing a number of facilities to welcome the arrival of guests and delegations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit. First, we are providing Mobile Unit Border Control Management devices, specifically for heads of state/minister-level delegations," he said in Tangerang on Tuesday (August 29, 2023).
These special immigration facilities are located at Terminal 3 and the Commercial Important Person (CIP) Terminal I at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
"These facilities are necessary to support the immigration checks for delegations amidst the high traffic of regular passengers," he explained.
He also emphasized that as the main and busiest gateway in Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta Immigration has experience in providing special facilities for every international event.
"Specifically for the 43rd ASEAN Summit, we have prepared immigration services similar to the services provided for the G-20 Summit in 2022," he added.
The theme of Indonesia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023 is "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth." Through this theme, Indonesia aims to ensure that ASEAN is not only an organization that plays a role for the region but also for the world.
President Joko Widodo is scheduled to open and lead 12 meetings. These include the 43rd ASEAN Summit in plenary and retreat formats, the 26th ASEAN-China Summit, the 24th ASEAN-South Korea Summit, the 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit, and the 11th ASEAN-United States Summit.
