Husein Sastranegara Airport Resumes Operations for Jet Engine Aircraft Routes

With the easing of the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) as part of the efforts to transition to a new normal, tourist attractions in Bandung are gradually starting to reopen. Amid efforts to revive tourism activities in Indonesia, the government has decided to reopen Husein Sastranegara Airport to serve jet flights. Previously, the airport only served propeller planes, while jet flights were only available at Kertajati Airport in Majalengka.

The reopening of jet flight services at Husein Sastranegara Airport has been positively welcomed by various sectors, including hotels, tour operators, airlines, and of course, PT. Angkasa Pura II, the airport's operator. These sectors are ready to collaborate and build synergies to help revive tourism activities in Bandung.

Airlines and Available Routes Here are some airlines ready to operate jet flights at Husein Sastranegara Airport along with the routes they provide:

  1. Citilink Citilink has resumed operations at Husein Sastranegara International Airport, offering several domestic routes for direct flights to Bandung. The flights will become effective starting August 21, 2020, using Airbus A320 jet aircraft.

Citilink’s CHSE Protocols
To ensure passenger safety and health, Citilink has implemented Cleanliness, Health, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) protocols as recommended by the government. Measures include mandatory mask-wearing onboard and social distancing, with extra steps like disinfecting the entire aircraft, from the cockpit to the cabin and cargo area, using standardized disinfectant liquids. Additionally, each Airbus 320 crew member is equipped with HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) technology to filter dust and create clean air, free from bacteria and viruses in the cabin, ensuring passengers feel safer and more comfortable flying with Citilink.

In addition to Citilink, another airline resuming domestic services at Husein Sastranegara International Airport is Lion Air. Flights will begin effective August 20, 2020, with the following routes:

Initially, Lion Air plans to operate 8 (eight) round-trip flights per day in Bandung, serving 4 (four) domestic destinations, which include:

  • Medan – Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra (KNO),
  • Denpasar – Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung, Bali (DPS),
  • Balikpapan – Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport, East Kalimantan (BPN),
  • Makassar – Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Maros, South Sulawesi (UPG).

Lion Air’s CHSE Protocols

Lion Air is committed to providing safe, comfortable, and optimal services to all its passengers. To that end, Lion Air implements several CHSE protocols that passengers must adhere to, including:

  1. Arriving early before departure (3-4 hours in advance).
  2. Presenting a valid ID (KTP or other identification).
  3. Wearing a mask before, during, and after the flight.
  4. Washing hands with soap or using hand sanitizer.
  5. Following physical distancing rules in the airport terminal.
  6. Maintaining cleanliness inside the aircraft.
  7. Following the crew’s instructions.
  8. Completing the electronic Health Awareness Card (e-HAC), which can be downloaded via the e-HAC Indonesia mobile app (Android) or through the website http://sinkarkes.kemkes.go.id/ehac.

Additionally, Lion Air enhances cleanliness and sterilization of its planes regularly through the Aircraft Exterior and Interior Cleaning (AEIC) method, carried out at Batam Aero Technic (BAT) and various airport bases where Lion Air planes are stationed.
