Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Proudly Welcomes the Inauguration Flight of the New AirAsia Direct Flight Route Hong Kong - Denpasar

Denpasar, 1 October 2024 – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and

Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, proudly welcomed the first direct flight Hong Kong – Denpasar route by AirAsia.

“Connectivity is the key to increasing the number of international tourist visits to Indonesia, and direct flight from Hong Kong to Indonesia is long-awaited. This flight is expected to attract more tourists from Hong Kong and internationally to visit Indonesia, contributing to increased foreign exchange from the tourism sector while simultaneously creating more jobs.” said Sandiaga Uno.

The Minister explained that AirAsia would operate daily flights with an Airbus A320, offering seven flights per week. For the Hong Kong-Denpasar route (QZ301), the flight will depart from Hong Kong at 06:55 LT and arrive in Denpasar at 11:50 WITA. Meanwhile, for the Denpasar-Hong Kong route (QZ300), the flight will depart Denpasar at 00:45 WITA and arrive in Hong Kong at 05:35 LT. “I believe more airlines will follow suit in launching direct flights in the future, considering the consistent increase in the number of tourists from Hong Kong. Indonesia is a favorite destination due to its captivating natural attractions and cultural ties,” said Sandiaga Uno.

To celebrate AirAsia’s inaugural Hong Kong-Denpasar flight, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (MOTCE), in collaboration with the Bali Provincial Government, PT. Angkasa Pura I (I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport), and the Airport Authority Region IV, organized an Inaugural Flight Ceremony on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the International Arrivals Gate of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung, Bali.

Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy Minister for Marketing at MOTCE, emphasized the importance of direct flights from international hubs like Hong Kong to Indonesia. “Hong Kong is a central hub in Asia, and we hope this new route will further boost tourist visits from Hong Kong and other countries to Indonesia,” said Made. The inaugural AirAsia Hong Kong-Denpasar flight carried around 180 passengers, who were warmly welcomed upon arrival. They were garlanded with flowers by the Deputy Minister for Marketing and the Director of Tourism Marketing Regional I (Asia Pacific), given Wonderful Indonesia souvenirs, and treated to traditional Balinese performances such as Baris Bandana and Minus One Dance, organized by the Bali Provincial Government.

Veranita Yosephine, President Director, and CEO of AirAsia Indonesia remarked, “The launch of the new Denpasar-Hong Kong route is a significant milestone, connecting two of the world’s top destinations—Bali and Hong Kong,”.
