(Nusa Dua, November 16, 2022) – There was something interesting on the second day of the G20 Summit series in Bali on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. President Joko Widodo invited media officials and journalists covering the event at Ngurah Rai Forest Park (Tahura) to take shelter in the VVIP area while waiting for the arrival of the G20 leaders. At Pendopo Wantilan, President Jokowi also had a chat with the journalists. To Alex, a journalist from the United States, the President explained about mangroves and Tahura.

"We have 33 species (of mangroves) here," said President Jokowi.
The media officials from G20 countries expressed their delight because, without strict protocol rules, they could engage in direct conversation with President Jokowi. One of them, Athi Geleba from South Africa, was very impressed by the President’s hospitality.

"You know, we were sitting under the sun, and he invited us to a cooler area with shade, offering us drinks. He was very friendly and very accessible," said Athi.
"We were actually very surprised when the President invited us to come and join him," he added.

Afterward, President Jokowi took the journalists on a tour of the Tahura and showed them the mangroves. The President introduced several mangrove species in the nursery area, including Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, and Ceriops tagal.
“These saplings are 3 to 6 months old,” said the President while pointing to some mangrove saplings.
“We started planting mangroves here in 1996,” he added.
After the tour with the journalists, President Jokowi returned to Pendopo Wantilan to wait for the arrival of the G20 leaders and international organizations. President Jokowi and the G20 delegation leaders are scheduled to plant mangrove trees together.
Accompanying the President during the event were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono.
