The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is a cooperative regional effort to promote the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as one tourist destination. This annual event involves all the tourism industry sectors of the 10 member states of ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) has main task to promote the ASEAN region as one tourist destination where Asian hospitality and cultural diversity are at its best. ATF was established in 1981. Each year, the hosting of ATF is rotated among the member countries.
ATF Background:
ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is the biggest annual tourism event in ASEAN region.
ASEAN Tourism Forum will be attended by policy makers, tourism industry players, product suppliers and tourism-based service in ASEAN region.
ATF comprises dialogue between Ministry of Tourism, private sector organization, also Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) between ASEAN exhibitors and international buyers from
ATF Objectives:
The primary objectives of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) are as follows:
The projection of ASEAN as an attractive multi-faceted single destination of major tourist-generating markets
The generation of increased awareness of ASEAN as a highly competitive regional tourist destination in the Asia- Pacific area;
The promotion of increased tourist in-flow to each and/or to a combination of the ASEAN member countries from various tourist generating countries;
The promotion of intra-ASEAN travel; and
The strengthening of cooperative ties among the various sectors of the ASEAN tourism industry.
Specifically, it is also the objective of the ATF to:
Serve as the annual convention of the ASEAN tourism industry for the purpose of exchanging ideas, review industry developments and jointly formulate specific recommendations to further accelerate the growth of ASEAN tourism; and provide a platform for the selling and buying of regional and individual tourism products of ASEAN member countries.

NTOs Meeting
The ASEAN NTOs meeting or National Tourism Organization Meeting is a technical meeting at the level of echelon 2 officials or echelon 3 officials in the relevant agencies of each ASEAN member country.
This meeting is conducted every six months for senior level officials
ASEAN NTOs results in agreements about ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plans (ATSP), a long term plan in order to increase ASEAN Tourism.
In this ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023, NTOs Meeting will be conducted with the dialogue partners agenda and also present ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan, South Korea) and ASEAN- India NTOs ASEAN Plus India and ASEAN Plus Russia.
Ministerial Meeting
Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (M- ATM) accommodates all Tourism Ministers of ASEAN countries that is held to discuss the development of common interests. From this meeting will result in tourism industry sector policies.
This meeting is a follow- up meeting after the NTOs Meeting that has been conducted beforehand.
The Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (M- ATM) is also attended by ASEAN Plus Three Tourism Ministers (China, Japan, South Korea) and ASEAN Plus India and ASEAN Plus Russia.
Preparatory Meeting
A Preparatory Meeting for ASEAN Tourism Forum Travel Exchange which includes venue inspection, registration, and related technical needs final check. This preparatory meeting is attended by Head of Delegations of each participant countries, and also exhibitors, buyers, and media representatives of TRAVEX ATF 2023.

ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2023:
The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) will be making its appearance again in Indonesia in 2023. After having successfully hosting the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in 2002 in Yogyakarta and 2012 in Manado, the Royal City of Yogyakarta will once again proudly welcome again all delegates at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023. The Forum provides a platform for collaboration between ASEAN member states and to holistically promote the region as one enchanting destination, with diverse cultures, cuisines and communities.
The theme “ASEAN- Empower Talents, Embrace Technology, Recover Tourism” represents Indonesia’s commitment in accelerating tourism recovery and to create empowered and competitive and professional talents. ATF 2023 expects to attract more than 2,000 participants from more than 25 countries. These include National Tourism Organization (NTO) meetings, tourism ministers and officials, exhibitors, international buyers, international and local media as well as trade visitors in the tourism industry.
The ASEAN Tourism Forum ATF) 2023 will mark the third time for Indonesia to be the Host Country after showing its success story in Yogyakarta, 2012 in Manado and now the 2023 return to Yogyakarta. ATF 2023 will be held in the Jogja Expo Center (JEC), a leading MICE venue.
ATF 2023 will not only accommodate exhibitors and buyers for Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) from 3-5 February 2023, but also will comprise the B2C (Business to Consumers) session for the local industries in tourism and creative economy sector.
