Paragliding Over Lake Toba
Andreas Prasetya Sinaga is one of the few paragliding pilots in Karo Regency, frequently flying from Gajah Bobok in Pangambatan Village. He soars multiple times a week, depending on the weather and wind direction, which are critical for paragliding.
According to Andreas, who has been flying since 2019, this route is one of the most favored in North Sumatra.
"In this route, we fly for about 12 minutes in zero-wind conditions," he shared.
Andreas, who is also a green chili and shallot farmer, is currently working towards earning his tandem flying license. Though challenging, he’s determined to provide tourists with an unforgettable flying experience above Karo.
Currently, tandem flights require bookings with pilots brought in from other locations. For more details, check out Instagram @kuliki_parayalang_karo.
If you’re just interested in watching, you can head to Gajah Bobok Hill or the landing site in Tongging. Andreas notes, "We usually fly on weekends or public holidays."
So, when are you planning a trip to Pangambatan Village? You might catch Andreas mid-flight or witness his impressive landings!
